The department is currently seeking to recruit staff to the position of an Associate Professor (tenure track) in Brain Development, starting October 1st, 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter, for a fixed term period of five years.

The tenure track position of associate professor is opened in the University’s profiling area of Brain Development, strengthening research in the field of developmental changes in the brain across life span. Emphasis will be given to methodological expertise in human neuroscience, with the aim of integration of behavioral and developmental sciences with brain imaging (particularly MEG/EEG). Other topical fields of the profiling area are: mechanisms of environmental and endogenous effects on brain plasticity; self-regulation and developmental changes in the brain; and, physical activity, functional capacity and brain health across life-span.

Duties

The duties of the associate professor include research in the field of cognitive neuroscience, especially brain development across the life span. The appointee shall develop independent research utilizing the research infrastructure provided by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Brain Research, Department of Psychology, and affiliated networks. The appointee shall also engage in active development of the field, including supervision of theses, promoting interdisciplinary research and acquiring competitive research funding, including EU, ERC, and Academy of Finland.

Requirements

For a person to be eligible for a tenure-track position, he or she must have completed a doctoral degree in the field of neuroscience or related field (such as signal processing, cognitive science, psychology, biology) and has since acquired international top-level research qualifications. We are primarily looking for a candidate in a stage of active career development. Successful candidate will possess active international collaboration in his/her field of expertise, has strong experience in supervising doctoral students and directing research, as well as teaching in the relevant content areas.
