Applications are invited for a position of Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence led by Prof Silvia Marino and based at the Blizard Institute. The centre focuses on the study of the epigenetic regulation of cancer stem cells isolated from human high grade gliomas as compared to normal neural stem cells. The program of work is a collaboration with the groups of Prof Denise Sheer also at the Blizard and of Prof Sebastian Brandner at the UCL Institute of Neurology. We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in computational biology, computer science, or a related field, with excellent programming skills. While primarily targeted at postdoc candidates, applications by exceptionally talented and motivated bioinformaticians will be considered. Prior experience in next generation sequencing data analysis is essential. All applicants should have a strong motivation for pursuing an ambitious research agenda in an international and competitive research environment. The post is based in the Blizard Institute, Whitechapel Campus. The Blizard Institute provides a stimulating scientific environment and state of the art infrastructure and facilities. In the 2014 REF, QMUL is ranked 11th out of total institutions and 9th out of multi-faculty universities. The Medical School is 7th in Clinical Medicine and 5th in Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care with 90% of research rated as 3*+ 4* in the overall power ranking for these unit of assessments. In Clinical Medicine, QMUL was ranked 4th nationally for quality of outputs. This is a full-time fixed time post for 2 years in the first instance, with a starting salary at the appropriate point for experience on the research grade within the range, £32,405 - £34,183 per annum inclusive of London allowance.
