Dementia is the greatest health challenge of our century.

The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) is the biggest UK initiative supporting research to fill this gap.

The UK DRI Headquarters team is based at UCL yet works across all six of the UK DRI host institutions. Collectively the HQ team is responsible for making the distributed UK DRI community function as a single institute, with a shared culture of intensely collaborative research.

The UK DRI HQ team is now looking to recruit a Director of Communications and Engagement to provide maternity cover from January 2020. The Director of Communications and Engagement, with the support of the UK DRI Communications Officer and institutional colleagues, leads the delivery and evaluation of our ambitious national communications strategy for the entire UK DRI. This involves coordinating communications across six leading universities, ensuring one strong voice across our seven research centres, and building strong internal communications mechanisms to ensure the hundreds of individuals that make up the UK DRI collaborate, share ideas and solve problems together. This role also involves significant engagement and reporting activities with our three founding funders, our Board of Trustees, as well as with policy makers, patients and their carers, the national and international scientific community and the wider public.

The post is funded for one year. We would welcome applications from internal candidates interested in this as a secondment opportunity.
