Financial bookkeeper for the BNA

We are looking for an experienced, advanced book-keeper, with good knowledge and experience of Sage, to work with the British Neuroscience Association (BNA).  

The BNA is a small charity, currently hosted by the University of Bristol, with three employees and a turnover of approximately £100k-£400k pa. The organisation consists of two companies: an incorporated charity (the British Neuroscience Association Ltd) and a trading subsidiary (BNA Events Ltd).  The latter is registered for VAT.

Both companies together process approximately 25-50 transactions per month. However, every two years BNA Events Ltd holds a large meeting which is associated with significantly higher number of transactions. 

Job Description

An individual carrying out this role would have to be confident in dealing with:

  • accruals
  • pre-payments
  • inter-company balances
  • payroll
  • VAT

They would also need to prepare full monthly management accounts.

Working arrangements

They would be working with the Chief Executive of the BNA to complete all these tasks. Some of this would be remotely (email and phone) and some in person, eg a monthly meeting.

Hours are very flexible. 

Pay

This would be negotiated and a proposed rate should be included in your application.
