Not only do they publish eBooks and journals, but they also develop specialist knowledge networks and content hubs to allow professionals to easily connect and collaborate with their peers in niche scientific fields.

This is a permanent graduate position based in Finchley, North London, paying £21k per annum.

Are you a science graduate who is keen to establish or further your career in STM publishing and scicomms? Could you apply your enthusiasm and scientific background in a fast-paced editorial environment? We're seeking an Assistant Editor to primarily support the Senior Editor in the management of our e-community designed for researchers and clinicians in the oncology field, plus support on our other e-communities focused on neuroscience and infectious diseases.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Writing and commissioning content – e.g., news articles, interviews, videos and podcasts – and creating an engaging editorial pipeline
  • Day-to-day management of the digital content hub, including editing and publishing content
  • Management of social media channels
  • Building the brand of both the e-community and your brand as a figurehead (e.g., appearing on video, building a social media presence)
  • Establishing and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships with key contacts in the field, as well as internal staff
  • Working with the Sales and Marketing teams to ensure effective visibility and promotion within the community
  • Working with the entire Digital team to share best practice in content and community management, sharing ideas for development and problem-solving
  • This role is likely to require occasional national and international travel

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's qualification in biomedical science, life sciences, pharmaceutical science or a related field at a 2:1 standard or above.

The ideal candidate would demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, excellent organisation and time-management, strong communication skills, and should be keen to build a knowledge of publishing and scientific communications.

This is an ideal role to begin a career in STM publishing and scicomms, with full training given to the successful candidate. There will be ample opportunities for the successful candidate to develop quickly and assume responsibility for the content and future direction of our digital resources.

Salary increases linked to successful completion of probation (6 months as standard) and 1 year at the company.
