Role Description
The successful candidate will assist in laboratory analysis, using different assays and technologies utilised in the pre-clinical safety assessment of exploratory medicines.
Laboratory technology and techniques used include; clinical chemistry, haematology and microbiology automated instruments, immunoassays (including ELISAs, Luminex technology, and MesoScale Discovery technology), automated electrophoresis, and tissue gene expression analysis (using Taqman quantitative PCR technology).
Whilst the emphasis is on the candidate developing practical experience in clinical pathology, they will also be required to undertake a small project. This is likely to occur later in the placement, the topic will be determined nearer the time, with the aim of contributing to the analytical capability of the department.
Degree Requirements: Must be on track for a 2.2 or above in a Medical laboratory Sciences
You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree, but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You will be expected to provide evidence from your university to show you will be an undergraduate student for the duration of the placement year.
