This is an exciting opportunity to get a taste of what working in Further Education is like. In addition to providing excellent teaching opportunities for new applicants, there is also the prospect of gaining a career within FE providers. The programme is open to all disciplines, specifically those who are not considering teaching as a career.
Please note this programme is aimed at those students who have not considered teaching as a career. Please do not apply if you are already aiming for a career in teaching as this programme will not be suitable/ideal for you.
The placements are 40-hours long and will be designed to suit your availability. You will receive: full support whilst on your placement, £300 bursary once you have completed your placement and a certificate of completion which can be evidenced on your CV!
This programme is funded by the Education and Training Foundation, in order to be eligible for the programme you must be either in your final year of studies or be studying a postgraduate degree, and either a UK or an EU student. Unfortunately, if you are an international student you will not be able to complete this programme.
Once we have received your application, we will match you with a college/training provider in your local area. The College or training provider will provide a mentor to support you throughout the placement. The placement will include the observation of teaching along with a range of other activities, such as attending meetings, looking at lesson planning etc. Ultimately, the aim is to give you a very good and realistic experience of what working in Further Education is like.
You will receive a government-funded bursary payment of £300 on completion of the work placement. You will have the opportunity to increase your employability skills, and enhance your CV. You will also gain skills and knowledge from this work placement, which you can take with you in your future career. You will gain valuable work experience and have the opportunity to network in this vast, diverse and exciting sector. Completing this placement will also open another avenue of potential career choice which you might not have previously considered.
