Founded in 2019, Beckley Psytech Ltd [“BPL”] is a for-profit company dedicated to helping patients suffering from neurological and psychiatric disorders by developing a pipeline of psychedelic compounds into licensed pharmaceutical medicines. Our vision, supplemented by our partnership with the Beckley Foundation, is for clinically validated psychedelic medicines to be integrated into modern medical practice, to help patients in need around the world, suffering with these profoundly debilitating conditions.
BPL is a growing research and development biotech headquartered in Oxford that is progressing two lead compounds through clinical trials and with a pipeline of follow up candidates to address poorly controlled neuro-psychiatric conditions.
Due to ambitious plans to accelerate research and development plans, BPL is currently expanding its resources and personnel and now requires a Market Research Intern to help support our growth plans.
The position offers a flexible, hybrid working pattern between home working and our offices in the Oxford/ London area.

About the position

Supporting the Director of Strategic Planning, the Market Intelligence intern will support the development of critical market insights to inform BPL’s portfolio and business development strategy and execution plans. The internship has the possibility of extension or progressing into a permanent role.

Roles and responsibilities: 

  • Supporting and conducting desk market research across a broad range of areas, not limited to: the scientific and clinical evidence base for different compounds in a range of neuro-psychiatric health problems; regulatory and technical pathways; customer and patient needs; existing treatment pathways, their effectiveness; and future competition.
  • Market sizing through the development of epidemiology forecasts
  • Supporting with ongoing competitive intelligence and competitive landscape analyses
  • Integrating insights across market research, competitive intelligence, forecasting, and other insights to generate a comprehensive understanding of the market, to provide recommendations that support the assessment of new business opportunities and ongoing business critical strategic operations
  • Developing presentations and communications materials, such as briefing documents on market intelligence findings
  • Meetings/ workshop support to inform portfolio and business development planning
  • Working with suppliers to manage the execution of market research and business development projects

 

Person specification

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in (or recently completed) a Masters degree programme or PhD
  • Bachelors educated (minimum 2.1 achieved degree) from a top tier university with a strong scientific focus, e.g. chemistry, biochemistry, life sciences medicine, biology or psychology.
  • Professional level in English, both in oral and in written communications

Knowledge/Experience:

Essential:

  • Excellent research skills and experience with market research methods / techniques (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills, e.g. the ability to evaluate, interpret and present complex data
  • Strong time and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously and work under pressure
  • Structured and diligent but also agile and proactive work approach
  • Very good working knowledge of MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint)

Desirable:

  • Experience in supporting business development opportunities and/or product launches with Market Insights / Business Planning
  • Experience in building forecast models / business cases
