Psychology is an ambitious and expanding subject area within the Faculty of Health Sciences, characterized by thriving multidisciplinary teaching and innovative basic and applied research. Psychology has three core research groups, centered on Cognition & Development, Cognitive & Clinical Neuroscience, and Mental Health & Wellbeing. Integral to our success has been a dedication to high-quality teaching and research excellence. Psychology’s overall research profile in the REF2014 was 70% (world leading or internationally excellent), and we were ranked 29th in the country for research intensity. The University also obtained Silver in the recent Teaching Excellence Framework assessment.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and successful scientist in any area of cognitive or clinical neuroscience with the ability and skills to integrate multiple cutting-edge approaches to enable new insights into cognitive and clinical neuroscience with the potential of informing clinical interventions. You will have a track record of publishing in established international journals, enabling you to further enhance the world-class research and teaching within our Cognitive & Clinical Neuroscience research group. You will have a vision and drive to develop a competitive research portfolio and a clear view of how your research can be translated to achieve societal/ healthcare impact. Experience in gaining competitive research grants, as well as established connections to industry/ and or healthcare providers would be advantageous. 

We are particularly interested in candidates who can further strengthen the group’s existing neuroscience expertise in functional imaging (fNIRS), neurostimulation methods (TMS/tDCS) (see also: https://www.hull.ac.uk/faculties/fhs/psychology/facilities.aspx) or neuropsychological approaches (neurogenetic/neurodegenerative disorders, neurorehabilitation). Candidates within other areas of neuroscience, however, are also welcome to apply. 

The successful candidate must demonstrate a firm commitment to research led teaching, and will be expected to teach, supervise and module co-ordinate at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
