Liverpool Health Partners (LHP) is the Academic Health Science System (AHSS) for the Cheshire and Merseyside Region with the mission to unify the clinical and academic strengths of the region to improve population health outcomes and economic productivity.

In Liverpool we have an established reputation for providing excellent clinical services, including those provided by the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust and Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust. There is also a strong track record in neuroscience research, but this work is currently dissipated across organisations, institutes and departments. The LHP ambition is to bring together those undertaking neuroscience and to build on that critical mass.

We are therefore seeking an individual from the clinical, biomedical, social science, psychology, epidemiology and/or public policy sectors, to lead the strategic development of a research strategy in Neuroscience.

The individual will be accountable for leading the review and development of neuroscience across the partnership and further afield, using LHP's strategic objectives of Collaborate, Discover, Improve.  Success will be delivered through the development and agreement of strategies, the building, development and maintenance of key relationships, identification of recruitment levers, and their interpersonal leadership skills.

To maintain a focus on delivering change through development and implementation of three to five-year strategic plans, the Programme Director for Neuroscience will not be accountable for the operational management and delivery of the services within the programme, or the staff who lead them; these will remain the responsibility of the partner organisations. They will, however, be responsible for delivering research programme plans and KPIs to the LHP Executive Team and the LHP Board.

The Programme Director will already be employed within one of the organisations within LHP and will be expected to commit the equivalent of one day per week to the role, which should be agreed with the individual's employer and if required, changes should be negotiated as part of the individual's Job Plan.

The Programme Director for Neuroscience will be appointed for three years, renewable by mutual consent following successful annual performance reviews undertaken by the Director of Research Programmes, the basis of which will be achievement against agreed objectives for the role.
