The post holder will be mentored by the senior research nurse and will be a full member of the research team, which includes members of multiple disciplines, including neurology, primary care and psychology. Through a well-designed induction programme, support and training, you will have the opportunity to develop as an independent practitioner working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

We are a leading clinical centre for movement disorders research aiming to improve the quality of life of patients with Parkinson’s disease and other disorders. Our PD-Care project is funded by the NIHR with the purpose to develop and test a new supported self-management tool for patients with Parkinson’s disease in the community.

The tool has been developed and its feasibility been tested, and we are looking for an additional team member to support people with Parkinson’s disease in using this tool. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with or supporting adults with complex needs. Experience working as a health or social care professional, care navigator or support worker in the NHS, adult social care or in the voluntary sector would be an advantage.  You will need have excellent time management and documentation skills for arranging and recording appointments during the specified trial period

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse

Desirable criteria

  • Completed/working towards teaching qualification
  • Completed/working towards degree in the speciality or related field

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant post registration experience
  • Experience of formal/ informal teaching of patients and staff
  • Experience in delivering evidence based practice
  • Experience of explaining complex concepts to patients in a clear and simplified manner
  • Experience of acting as a patient advocate

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in neurology
  • Clinical research experience
  • Experience working as a preceptor/facilitator
  • Experience of phlebotomy and cannulation
