Applications are invited for a Laboratory Manager/Research Coordinator to be responsible for managing all laboratory studies being carried out as part of the NIHR Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) (The National Institute for Health Research provides the framework through which research staff and research infrastructure of the NHS in England are positioned, maintained and managed as a national research facility). The Oxford Health BRC focuses on adult psychiatric disorders, dementia, and psychological therapies, and how improved treatments can be developed and tested. The post is based in the Department of Psychiatry Neurosciences Building at the Warneford Hospital 

The post is for a fixed-term (funded to 31 March 2022). 

You will manage and oversee all laboratory operations for the Oxford Health BRC, covering a range of biochemical, cellular and molecular methods, as well as developing and establishing appropriate analytical protocols and techniques, and overseeing research governance issues. You will be first port of call for researchers and clinicians seeking advice and will supervise students and other visiting researchers. 

You will be an experienced laboratory professional with good management skills who can generate innovative solutions to problems through the application of specialist know-how. With a PhD in neurosciences or other relevant area you will have experience of project management, writing operational procedures, experimental protocols and/or ethics applications, and the proven ability to work independently, and collaboratively. Experience of budgeting would be an advantage.
