Project description

Autobiographical memories are the building blocks that create the story of somebody’s life and help them to maintain relationships and responsibilities, as well as enabling learning from past experiences and planning about the future. Understanding how the different elements of an autobiographical memory are integrated during recollection to generate a vivid and detailed memory and how this differs from other forms of memory, is a crucial concern in memory neuroscience. The aim of this PhD project is to explore these neural processes and to examine their impact on the quality of autobiographical memory recollection, through a combination of functional neuroimaging techniques (such as EEG) and non-invasive brain stimulation (TMS and tDCS) approaches.
