Project Description

The Biological Psychology group at the Department of Psychology and Sports Science invites applications for a PhD position in cognitive neuroscience. The position is available immediately with a flexible starting date. In agreement with current regulations, the position is on the TV-H E13 scale (50 %) for public employees. Scientific employees are – unless the allowed maximum duration of a temporary employment is exceeded – generally employed for an initial duration of 3 years with a possibility of extension for an additional 2 years, if the above-mentioned requirements are fulfilled.

The candidate will be expected to contribute to research on the interaction of motivational and perceptual factors on category learning and reward learning and to teaching in biological psychology according to the teaching regulations of Hesse. The department offers an on-site research-dedicated 3T MRI scanner. The successful candidate will collect and analyze fMRI data, present the results at scientific conferences and write scientific papers.

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in neuroscience, psychology, biology or a related field who have a strong interest in cognitive neuroscience and the ability to work independently. We expect basic programming skills and proficiency in English; prior experience with fMRI is of advantage.
