One postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratories of Prof. Walter Marcotti at the University of Sheffield.
We are interested in understanding how actin binding proteins regulate the morphogenesis and function of the stereociliary bundles in mouse cochlear hair cells. This project will require the use of knockout mice in combination with a wide range of techniques including single-cell electrophysiology, in vivo hearing physiology, immunostaining and scanning electron microscopy. The work will also involve the restoration of hearing function using in vivo AAV gene replacement therapy
The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in sensory systems and with expertise in one or more of the following: electrophysiology, electron microscopy and viral vector generation/delivery. The appointee will get the opportunity to contribute significantly to the ongoing research by designing, developing and performing experiments, data analysis and disseminating the findings by writing papers and presenting work at conferences.
The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary and vibrant environment with several additional postdocs and PhD students present within the Hearing Research group at the University of Sheffield (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/hearing).
