We are looking for an outstanding individual to join the AIMS-2-TRIALS.

This study brings together centres across the EU, North America, and South Africa.

Together we carry out 'deep phenotyping' studies of fetuses and infants at risk of developing autism, children and adults with autism, and individuals with rare genetic disorders.

Our aim is to better understand the cause(s) of autism - and so identify new treatments. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the world-wide largest grant in neurodevelopment; supporting the study and validation of sensory biomarkers within the consortium, focusing on low-level sensory function in the tactile, auditory and visual domain.

Working under the direction of Dr Nicolaas Puts, the successful candidate will discover and validate sensory biomarkers in autistic individuals. These may be based on any (or all) of the following; electrophysiology (e.g. eye tracking, EEG), MRI (with a focus on MR spectroscopy, and including structural, functional).

With a substantial knowledge autism and sensory processing, particularly pertaining to sensory abnormalities and physiology they will develop and lead on one area of scientific analyses.

This particularly involves data processing and analysis of psychophysical, TMS, and MRS data in Matlab and R. Involved in all aspects of the project, from writing technical reports to line management of research workers, through to presenting results at meetings, the successful candidate will also play a proactive role in ensure that milestones and deliverables are on time, and that scientific findings are exploited.

Please note that this is a PhD level role.
