Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow position examining neural circuits underlying feeding control in a collaboration between the University of Sussex and the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour, University College London.

The candidate will be based at Sussex, working with Prof. Kevin Staras, but travel frequently to UCL to carry out research in the lab of Dr. Tiago Branco.

This exciting project will use state-of-the-art fluorescence imaging and electron microscopy techniques to reveal fundamental synaptic control mechanisms that underpin feeding behaviour in mammals. Follow these links to see the research interests of the Staras lab and the Branco lab. An overview of neuroscience research in these academic centres can be found here: Sussex NeuroscienceSWC.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in a neuroscience-related field and demonstrated experience in fluorescence imaging, brain-slice preparations and electrophysiology. A background in electron microscopy would be an advantage.

The successful candidate is expected to actively engage in our research program, provide guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate students and to participate in the strategic planning of the research.

For informal enquiries, please contact Prof. Kevin Staras by email (k.staras@sussex.ac.uk)
