At Roche, we believe it’s urgent to deliver medical solutions right now – even as we develop innovations for the future. We are passionate about transforming patients’ lives and we are fearless in both decision and action. And we believe that good business means a better world.

The pRED (pharma Research and Early Development) Biomarkers and Translational Technology and Informatics groups at the Roche Innovation Center Basel aim to strengthen their digital biomarker team with this two-year post-doctoral position. The field of ‘Digital Biomarkers’ is a young and rapidly expanding research area centered on the remote and frequent collection of symptomatic data from patients using smartphone or wearable sensors. These provide high-dimensional, longitudinal datasets of sensor-derived features.

The Position

This post-doctoral position will focus of the rapidly evolving field of cognitive digital biomarkers for early Alzheimer’s disease (AD). In close collaboration with international experts, internal pRED and late-stage scientists and colleagues, your main accountabilities will include:

  • Assess the robustness of the cognitive neuroscience motivating available cognitive digital biomarker solutions for early AD
  • Develop novel cognitive digital biomarker solutions to fill any gaps you identify,
  • Design clinical studies to compare the relative strengths of available digital biomarker solutions and
  • Publish these findings in high-impact journals and present them at internal and external meetings.

These results will support and inform future digital biomarker development for AD in Roche and potentially beyond. A key advantage of this position is the opportunity to learn about the intersection of cognitive neuroscience and novel technologies within clinical drug development by working with many different departments across multiple stages of drug development.
