This position is available in Lyon, France at the Lyon Neuroscience Research Center, DYCOG Team (Dir. Olivier Bertrand) under the direction of Aurélie Bidet-Caulet, Ph.D.
Expected starting date: between May and September 2017.
We are looking for a highly motivated post-doc fellow for a 2 years postdoctoral position to investigate oscillatory mechanisms supporting auditory attention. The candidate will have the opportunity to explore this question using intra-cortical (SEEG) and ECoG data that have already been recorded in patients suffering from pharmaco-resistant epilepsy in Lyon (France), or in the USA (collaboration with Pr. R.T. Knight, University of California, Berkeley).
Duties of the postdoctoral fellow will include (1) advanced data analysis (time-frequency analysis, oscillatory coupling…) of the SEEG and ECoG data sets during tasks measuring auditory selective attention or distractibility (around ten patients in each task), (2) result synthesis at the group level, and (3) writing of scientific articles. Collection of new data is possible.
The postdoctoral fellow will be part of the DYCOG team of the Lyon Neuroscience Research Center (http://u821.lyon.inserm.fr/index_en.php). The DYCOG team has a long-standing expertise in analysis of intracranial signals and oscillatory activities, as well as in the investigation of attention brain mechanisms in Human. The Lyon Neuroscience Research Center is a multidisciplinary research institute offering a vibrant working atmosphere in an international environment with multiple opportunities for seminars, workshops, and methodological clubs (https://crnl.univ-lyon1.fr/index.php/en) and an access to neuroimaging platforms (MEG, 3T MRI, PET, neuroimmersion…).
Lyon enjoys a central location in Europe with many low-cost destinations. The Alp Mountains, a great place for skiing, are within 1h ride and the Mediterranean sea is within 3h ride (1h30 in high speed train). Required skills
• [Mandatory] Ph.D. in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Signal Processing or a related field
• [Mandatory] Autonomy in programming in MATLAB, Python or C
• [Desired] Experience in analyzing oscillatory activities and coupling from electrophysiological signals
• [Desired] Knowledge on attention and audition
• Fluency and solid writing skills in English are expected. French is not a requirement
