2024 BNA Scholars announced
15th March 2024
We have an exciting opportunity for an outstanding research scientist with experience of in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology to work within a Wellcome grant funded project investigating the pathophysiology and epileptogenicity of neuronal autoantibodies relevant to paediatric epilepsy.
This cutting edge, translational research will aim to directly address the unmet clinical need for rapid intervention in autoimmune epileptic encephalopathy, and will improve long-term paediatric outcomes.
The post holder’s role will primarily involve in vivo and in vitro electrophysiological studies (whole cell patch clamp, local field potential recordings) and histology. Analysis of EEG obtained and ability to write computer code to facilitate analysis would be a bonus. There will also be an opportunity to develop skills in behavioural neuroscience. Appropriate training will be provided where required. With the aim to regularly disseminate high quality research findings, and presentations at local, national and international conferences, career development is an integral part of the fellowship.
We are keen to attract highly motivated research scientists with relevant in vivo electrophysiology experience and exceptional track records in this field.
Applicants will have a PhD in a relevant neuroscience/biological discipline, we will consider early PhD graduates if the essential techniques of in vivo electrophysiology formed an integral part of their doctoral training.
