THIS IS A RE-ADVERTISEMENT. PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral researcher to join the research group of Dr. Anna Mitchell to develop and perform experiments investigating cognitive functions (e.g. learning, memory, decision-making) involving cortico- thalamo-cortical interactions in non-human primates using electrophysiological recording studies, drug infusions, lesions, and functional MRI scanning.

This full-time post is to cover a period of maternity leave starting from 6 January 2020 until 19 September 2020.

Working with Dr. Mitchell, you will develop cutting edge non-human primate experiments related to cognitive functions, in particular learning, memory and adaptive decision making; and will support on-going experiments and the analysis of existing datasets. The successful postholder will be expected to work with limited supervision and must keep up-to-date with the latest developments and innovation in the field.

The post is ideally suited to applicants who have recently completed (or are about to complete) a PhD in neuroscience or a related field.

As well as prior experience and knowledge of neurophysiology recordings in animals and a strong interest in working closely with non-human primates, you will have excellent oral and written communication skills, and a basic understanding of neuroscience, primate neuroanatomy and primate visual and programming in particular Matlab. Responsibilities also include assisting with the development and implementation of the scientific programme of work including responsibility for the organizational processes needed to advance this research work, preparing scientific reports for journal publication and presenting scientific work at seminars within the department and at external meetings.

You will be required to upload a covering letter explaining how you meet the job requirements, as well as a CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on 5 December 2019 and interviews are planned for Thursday 12 December 2019.
