The post

The College wishes to recruit a either a Postdoctoral Research Associate or a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support the work of Professor Gáspár Jékely. This Wellcome Trust funded post is available on a full time basis, from 01.01.2020 until the 31.12.2021 with the possibility of extension. The successful applicant will work in the Living Systems Institute in the field of neuroscience, contributing to the study of neural circuits and behaviour in the marine annelid model Platynereis.

The post will include the generation and analysis of serial EM connectome resources, behavioural assays, live imaging, genomic knockouts and transgenesis, computational image analysis and related activities.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

For a Postdoctoral Research Associate, applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology and microscopy. Experience with connectomics, imaging and behavioural assays is an advantage.

For a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will have all of the above, and must be in possession of PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study.
