We are seeking a postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a team whose ultimate aim is to add ‘human common sense’ to systems for navigation and 3D vision.

The successful candidate will be appointed for a 1 year, EPSRC/Dstl funded post as part of a large consortium that includes researchers in UCLA, MIT, Yale, CMU, Oxford, Birmingham and Glasgow. The post-holder will carry out either psychophysical experiments in the Immersive Virtual Reality laboratory in Reading or modelling of navigation results. The latter would be in collaboration with researchers in the Robotics group in Oxford. There is an opportunity to spend several weeks in a collaborating lab.

The post is fixed term, for 12 months.

You will have:

  • a PhD in a relevant area (e.g. psychology, neuroscience or computer science)
  • experience in designing, programming and running experiments or modelling data
  • a track record of bringing results to publication
  • Ability to work independently, good organizational skills, and good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of experimental psychology, neuroscience and/or neural networks
