We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral research scientist with an interest in understanding brain development during embryogenesis and how developmental problems may lead to autism. Working as part of a small team, you will grow forebrain organoids from embryonic stem cells and use them to study how connections between different brain regions are established in the embryo. You will optimise a strategy to grow thalamic organoids from ES cells, employ a wide range of methods to characterise them and then use them to investigate how mutations in developmental regulatory genes lead to autism. The project is part of a newly-established collaboration between groups in the Centre for Integrative Physiology and the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine. It is funded by the Simons Initiative for the Developing Brain for two years in the first instance.
