A postdoctoral research post funded by the MRC in the laboratory of Dr Robin Lovell-Badge is now available.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to identify the origin of pituitary deficiencies that develop in up to 50% of paediatric cancer survivors after cranial irradiation. Recent published work and data obtained in our lab suggest that supporting glial cells are required in the median eminence, the structure where information between the hypothalamus and pituitary is exchanged and that their destruction by irradiation may underline the development of pituitary deficiencies.

The aim of this project is to assess this hypothesis in mice and characterise the role of this cell population in the hypothalamo-pituitary axis, with a particular emphasis on the establishment of neuro-vascular connections.
