As part of the continued development and expansion of The School of Life Sciences we are seeking to appoint a Professor or Reader in Neuroscience.

This post is a key appointment which will be of central importance in enhancing the School’s research profile, developing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision and extending the School’s profile regionally, nationally and internationally. Specifically you will engage in developing and publishing internationally leading research and generate research income; successfully supervise postgraduate students; offer leadership in research; and undertake teaching responsibilities relevant to programmes of the School.

This post represents an exciting opportunity for an individual to provide leadership in research in a buoyant and expanding School of Life Sciences, which has strong links to the schools of Medicine, Psychology and Veterinary Science.

Applications are invited from candidates with expertise in any area of Neuroscience or behavioural neuroscience and its applications. However, we would be particularly interested in profiles that can strengthen or develop cross theme research opportunities.

You should have a PhD in Neuroscience or a related area, extensive experience of research and teaching together with a significant publication record in peer-reviewed journals and experience in gaining research funding.

The position will either be offered at Reader or Professor depending on experience.

You should also have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. In addition, candidates should have experience and/or interest in leadership in an academic environment coupled with the ability to inspire and motivate other staff.
