Programme Leader Track in Neurobiology

Starting Salary – £49,637 – £61,328 per annum
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge UK

The Neurobiology Division of the MRC LMB invites applications for a Group Leader position. We seek someone with a focus on the elucidation of fundamental aspects of the molecular neurobiology of the neuronal synapse, in health and disease. The primary selection criteria are scientific excellence and potential for synergy with our existing research programmes, both within the Division (encompassing neuronal cell biology, circuits and behaviour, and neurodegeneration) and across the wider LMB. You should hold a PhD and have an excellent publication record, be internationally recognised for your work and have outstanding potential for independent research.

The position comes with substantial core funding sufficient to establish your research group, and applications for additional external grant support are encouraged. The LMB has an exceptional record of ground-breaking research, and in 2013 moved into a new building with outstanding core facilities including those for light and electron microscopy and mass spectrometry, as well as electronic and instrumentation workshops. Administrative duties are minimal and no teaching is required. Interactions across the four Divisions of the LMB are encouraged. The University of Cambridge and affiliated institutions form a vibrant Neuroscience community (http://www.neuroscience.cam.ac.uk/).

The appointment will be made at Programme Leader Track level, and candidates should have a strong international track record of relevant independent research and a proven ability to lead a research team, pursuing original approaches to long-term research goals. Salaries are competitive (Programme Leader Track £49,637 to £61,328 per annum).
