Job Details
Dementia is the biggest health challenge of our century. To date, there is no way to prevent it or even slow its progression, and there is an urgent need to fill the knowledge gap in our basic understanding of the diseases that cause it.
The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) is the biggest UK initiative driving forward research to fill this gap.
The UK DRI at Imperial brings together researchers from diverse backgrounds with fresh perspectives, drawing on the university’s unique strengths, resources and focus on science, engineering, medicine and business. The team recognises that the challenges of dementia demand new concepts, new approaches and a diverse range of new research tools and directions. Their holistic approach views the ageing brain in the context of the ageing body, not in isolation.
We are looking for someone to join our team to help ensure the effective operation of the centre, comprising eleven research programmes and the £2M Director’s strategic initiative, the Multi-‘omics Atlas Project. You will report to the Centre Manager and have the opportunity to interact closely with Group Leaders and their research teams. You will utilise a number of collaboration technologies to manage a portfolio of projects and support the team as we prepare for the scientific review during 2021/22.
Person Criteria
You will have excellent organisational and administrative skills, being able to track complex tasks through to completion. You will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, expressing yourself effectively in writing, on telephone and video calls, and in person with all levels of staff
You can assess priorities, organise your workload without direct supervision, and initiate action where appropriate.
Educated to A level or equivalent, you will have knowledge of scientific/medical terminology.
You will be adaptable, and champion a positive attitude to colleagues to assist them with new ways of working.
