This is an exciting opportunity to join the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre, a world renowned Major Research Facility within the Department of Clinical Neurosciences on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. We are a regional PET centre in the UK, which undertakes manufacturing of radiopharmaceuticals for use in the biomedical imaging technique of Positron Emission Tomography (PET), primarily for imaging programmes based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The unit has a dedicated radiochemistry facility for the production of short-lived radiopharmaceuticals for human use under Medicine and Healthcare Regulatory Agency licences.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Radiopharmaceutical Unit, which is responsible for the regular syntheses of radiopharmaceuticals tailored to the requirements of the PET imaging programmes at the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre and collaborators; together with the research and development of novel radiopharmaceuticals. To achieve the requirements of good manufacturing practice, in accordance with our MHRA licenses, you will mainly be responsible for performing quality control and quality assurance duties.

You will have a BSc in chemistry or related subjects and experience in analytical chemistry methods, including HPLC, GC and MS. You should have a clear understanding of the unique aspects pertaining to radiation safety and GMP for the synthesis of PET radiotracers and the ability to adhere to statutory health and safety guidelines within a chemistry laboratory, including radiation. You will also need to be willing to work contracted hours flexibly in order to meet clinically determined measurement time points and to work in a multidisciplinary teams involving clinical staff, radiographers, physicists and biologists.
