We are looking to recruit a motivated scientist with significant experience in the field of neuroscience and an interest in product development and commercialization. This role will report into the Director of New Product Development Programme and Strategy. Using your knowledge and experience you will ensure the quality of our neuroscience product range. You will work closely with our partners in product Portfolio to help drive our neuroscience strategy. 

The job is based at our Cambridge (UK) site, but the job holder will work closely with other stakeholders and teams in other global locations.

Job responsibilities

·       New product Research and Development (R&D) research area lead

·       Key contact person within R&D for neuroscience – maintain knowledge of developments, literature and methods in this field by attending meetings, conferences and building networks.

·       Be part of a cross-functional neuroscience team (with key partners and stakeholders internally in our Portfolio and R&D teams) to develop product roadmap and strategy for neuroscience. 

·       Directly establish and manage key projects, as necessary, to help drive the neuroscience strategy and portfolio quality

·       Directly manage key collaborations, as required, for product development

·       Some travel to conferences required (international & national)

·       Set quality and performance standards for neuroscience products such as antibody binders and assay kits.

·       Provide high-quality product suggestions positioned as solutions to significant problems in the neuroscience field.

·       Ensure appropriate development and validation methods are in place for neuroscience products.

·       Track progress against strategy and ensure the products from our pipeline you’re your established quality criteria. 

·       Assist in troubleshooting new product development projects.

  About You

Our ideal candidate will have extensive research experience in Life sciences and a strong background in the neuroscience field, with a PhD in biological sciences (or equivalent experience) and ideally with postdoctoral experience. 


Previous experience within a commercial setting and / or project management experience would be an advantage, as will previous experience working with academic collaborators. Whilst the role does not entail laboratory work, significant experience with antibodies and the capacity to interpret and analyse scientific data is essential for the role. 


You will have hands on experience in using antibody validation techniques such as Western blots, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, ELISA and flow cytometry.

This role is not a supervisory role however you will be required to show technical leadership within multiple teams.  You will be highly organised, a strong team player and influencer.  You must be comfortable working to deadlines and prioritising different aspects of your role. Additionally, you will be an effective communicator, comfortable building relationships within the team and across the business.

Advanced knowledge of using MS Office Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint would be advantageous as would previous project management experience.
