Applications are invited for a Research Assistant in the LWENC, a dedicated, specialist centre for the conduct of first-in-human studies of novel therapies for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. The post holder will be primarily responsible for administering neuropsychological tests and clinical, functional and psychiatric rating scales and measures across a diverse portfolio of experimental medicine and early phase clinical trials in neurodegeneration and neurology. Additional duties will include co-ordination of research visits, data curation and analysis, ensuring adequate rating cover for the study portfolio, preparation of test materials and publication of results.
The post is available immediately and is funded by a grant from the Wolfson Foundation for the period to March 2019 in the first instance.
Applicants must have a degree in a biomedical / scientific subject or professional qualification in Psychology or equivalent health sciences related field, extensive experience of administering cognitive assessments and clinical neurological scales, and experience of working with people with neurological disorders enrolled in clinical research studies. An understanding of clinical trial and research methodology, and a comprehensive understanding of UK Clinical Trials Regulations, the European Directives on Clinical Trials and the Department of Health's Research Governance Framework, are essential, as are excellent oral and written communication and inter-personal skills, and a very high level of consideration and care for patients and research subjects. Experience of working in the NHS, and GCP certification are desirable.
