2024 BNA Scholars announced
15th March 2024
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to join the Mental Health Neuroscience lab led by Dr Camilla Nord at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge.
The post holder will lead on recruitment and testing for human cognitive neuroscience studies. This will consist of behavioural, neuroimaging (MRI), and neurostimulation studies, including transcranial focused ultrasound stimulation, tfUS, an exciting new method in neuroscience that enables us to specifically and reversibly stimulate activity of deep brain structures. The post holder will form part of our interdisciplinary lab of cognitive neuroscientists at the MRC CBU developing neuroscientific methods to better understand and treat neuropsychiatric disorders (e.g., depression; trauma- and stress-related disorders; functional neurological disorders). A current major focus of the lab is on brain-body interactions and the relationship between physical and mental health. To explore these topics, we use many different approaches, including cognitive testing, computational modelling, neuroimaging (fMRI, MRS), pharmacology, immunology, and brain stimulation. The candidate does not need to have experience in all (or any) of these methods - an enthusiasm to learn is more than enough.
Some experience with programming in MATLAB, R, or Python is essential. The candidate will be supported in any additional training they require for the role. We are actively supportive of career development, in and outside of academia, and any training, experience, or collaboration to advance the candidate's interests will be encouraged and facilitated by the lab and the Unit.
