We are looking to appoint a research assistant to work on the MRC Mental Health Data Pathfinder. Led by Professor Simon Lovestone the pathfinder application builds on excellence across mental health and informatics from the Department of Psychiatry together with the Big Data Institute, the Maths Institute and other departments at Oxford. This post is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.

This post is for a fixed-term (funded to 31 March 2020).

Your role will be dedicated to supporting the work of the MRC Mental Health Data Pathfinder award. Your main tasks will be: to familiarise yourself with the data sources that are part of the Pathfinder project (e.g. participants/patients in ongoing studies, cohorts from previous studies, large biobanks); investigate which additional data sources could be used in the Pathfinder project; liaise with the institutions in charge of the data sources that are part of Pathfinder, such that these data sources can be linked with each other; become familiar with the ethical approval processes and rules that are required to use the data sources of the Pathfinder project; in collaboration with experienced researchers, write the required ethical approval protocols.

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree (at least 2:1) in psychology, social sciences, data science or other relevant discipline; a strong interest in data analysis, neuroscience or psychiatry; ability to work with patients; research experience and knowledge of research ethics; understanding of data analysis methods, databases or experimental datasets.
