You will work on projects that will investigate the neurovascular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration at the onset of Alzheimer’s Disease. Duties include:
1) breeding and managing multiple transgenic mice colonies to include genotyping and record-keeping
2) performing cranial window and viral injection surgeries to enable in vivo imaging of neurons and blood vessels
3) performing immunohistochemical labelling of mouse brain tissue
4) assisting a team of researchers with running experiments to measure mouse brain activity and oxygenation (using 2 photon microscopy and haemoglobin spectroscopy) and behaviour
5) process data collected from experiments
6) assist with the day-to-day management of the laboratory.
Successful applicants will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and committed to working in a fast-paced and competitive research setting. Excellent technical and organisational skills and the ability to work within a team are essential. Due to the short nature of the contract, candidates should currently hold a home office personal licence.
