A Research Assistant position is available at the new UK Dementia Research Institute (DRI) based at the University of Cambridge, Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Cambridge Biomedical Campus The successful applicant will be part of a multidisciplinary project between the groups of Dr. Edward Avezov and Professor Clemens Kaminski.

The mission of the UK DRI at the University of Cambridge, is to create a collaborative, inter-disciplinary Centre, combining world-leading expertise unique to Cambridge from chemistry, biophysics and structural biology with internationally leading research in the cell biology of neurodegeneration. This environment will enable creative and innovative approaches to the study of neurodegenerative disease and drive a gear change in our scientific understanding. Our focus is on understanding the processes involved in the earliest stages of neurodegenerative disease in order to deliver therapeutic targets with the greatest potential to prevent dementia

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level or MSc in a relevant subject (e.g. Biology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Neuroscience or related disciplines) and have knowledge of basic techniques in cell and molecular biology.

Experience with research on neurodegenerative diseases, IPS cells handling e.g. induced neurons and glia, CRISPR technology and molecular cloning, fluorescence microscopy and Image analysis would be desirable.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 36 months in the first instance.
