We are looking for a Research Assistant/Research Associate to work with Professor Angela Roberts on 'Identification of the higher-order cognitive mechanisms by which prefrontal and anterior cingulate circuits regulate negative emotion'. The main aim of this Medical Research Council funded project is to fractionate, functionally and neuroanatomically, the component cognitive processes that constitute the top-down prefrontal regulatory mechanisms of negative emotion and determine their interaction with downstream structures, including the amygdala and bed nucleus of the stria terminalis. The proposed research will inform our understanding of the multi-determined nature of anxiety and thus inform diagnoses. It will also provide the necessary neurocognitive framework for understanding the mechanisms underlying the efficacy of current drug, cognitive-behavioural and brain stimulation treatments and how they interact.

The post is based at purpose-built facilities within the University of Cambridge. Applicants should have a PhD (or about to be awarded their PhD) but ideally have some postdoctoral experience in behavioural neuroscience or related disciplines.  Previous experience in pharmaco-genetics, psychopharmacology or neuroimaging, is highly desirable.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.
