The Roberts lab is a behavioural neuroscience lab that investigates the prefrontal control of negative and positive emotion with an aim to understand the multi-determined nature of anxiety and depression. We use a wide range of neurobiological techniques including neuroimaging, chemogenetics, wireless recordings of cardiovascular activity, pharmacology and sophisticated cognitive testing in non-human primates.

We are looking for an intellectually curious, passionate and highly motivated postdoc to join a collaborative, like minded group of researchers working on a project recently funded by the MRC. The aim of this project is to provide psychological, pharmacological and developmental insights into prefrontal circuits underlying the regulation of threat reactivity and negative biases in the common marmoset. This research hopes to provide much needed insight into both the cortical networks that produce anxiety when dysregulated, but additionally, the neural substrates that underlie effective anxiolytic treatments.

The ideal post-holder will be a behavioural/cognitive neuroscientist with computational modelling expertise and data-analysis skills. The four-year post is based at purpose-built facilities within the University of Cambridge. Applicants should either have, or will shortly be awarded, a PhD in behavioural neuroscience or related disciplines. Prior work with computational modelling and experimental animal work is highly desirable.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for four years in the first instance.
