We are seeking to appoint a postdoctoral Research Associate to lead innovative cognitive neuroscience research projects on the neural and bodily basis of mental health disorders. The successful applicant will drive forward implementation, data collection, analysis, and reporting on scientific studies as part of the new Mental Health Neuroscience Programme led by Dr Camilla Nord at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge.

The aim of our lab is to discover causal mechanisms driving neuropsychiatric symptoms, in particular those that involve disrupted homeostatic processes, such as anhedonia, appetite disruption, and somatic symptoms. Ultimately, we intend to translate exciting discovery science findings into novel treatments for mental health disorders. This research lies at the interface of many fields (cognitive neuroscience; computational psychiatry; medicine), and subfields (interoception; reward processing). Candidates with interest in any or all of these areas will be considered, and the role may be tailored for their particular interests and expertise.

The methodological expertise of the candidate should include one or more of the following: functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), electrogastrography (EGG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial ultrasound stimulation (tUS), psychopharmacology, or computational modelling of behaviour. Ideally, the candidate should also have experience in clinically-relevant research, especially with populations with neuropsychiatric conditions.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with adults' barred list). This appointment also requires a Research Passport application.
