2024 BNA Scholars announced
15th March 2024
We are seeking two highly motivated, Research Associate to join the Imperial College Dementia Research Institute (DRI) for a project exploring the role of neural circuit plasticity in rodent models of neurodegeneration and ageing. The project involves using cutting edge, in vivo imaging and bioelectronic technologies, combined with touchscreen learning paradigms, to explore the role of homeostatic plasticity in the aged brain and mouse models of neurodegeneration. The successful applicants will join a multidisciplinary group that aims to understand why neural circuits in the aged brain are vulnerable to neurodegeneration.
The successful candidates will be expected to take a leading role in all aspects of the project, from designing and performing experiments, developing technical advances and performing data analysis, to presenting the results. Opportunities exist for collaborations with colleagues in computational neuroscience, engineering, computer science and other fields.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in neuroscience, biological sciences, engineering, or related fields, and an ability to work in a diverse group including experimental and computation neurobiologists. Experiences with in vivo/in vitro electrophysiology and/or two-photon microscopy is desirable, as is programming ability in MATLAB.
The post is funded for 3 years in the first instance and is available immediately. The successful candidate will join the Imperial DRI situated at the Hammersmith Campus.
