We seek an ambitious, junior post-doctoral scientist to join a successful translational research team investigating Mendelian pain disorders - someone who is enthusiastic, enjoys research and working as part of a team. The successful candidate will run projects to define the function of novel genes associated with human pain; including the embryological development of pain neurons, SNPs associated with common pain phenotypes, and post-natal nociceptor function.

A relevant first degree and PhD is required. Previous proven experience in the following will be useful; human genetic diseases, molecular genetics (sequencing and complex cloning), cell biology (confocal microscopy, expression studies and particularly electrophysiology), microRNA studies, proteomics, stem cell differentiation, and working with the mammalian embryonic and post-natal nervous system.

The post is in the team of Professor Geoff Woods, an investigator at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research. For recent publications see PubMed and https://www.cimr.cam.ac.uk/research/principal-investigators/principal-investigators-q-z/woods.

The full incremental salary range for the position is advertised in order to demonstrate the progression of the Grade. In the majority of case appointments will be made at the Grade minimum: only in very specific circumstances can a higher salary be offered.
