A Wellcome Trust funded postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Paul Bays at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will work on a research project investigating the computational and neural principles by which visual information is accumulated across gaze fixations.

The research combines behavioural testing of working memory, visual attention and perceptual decision-making with numerical modelling of underlying cognitive and neural processes. The researcher will design, conduct and analyze research on this project in consultation with Dr Bays, and write and communicate results as scientific papers and in scientific presentations at national and international conferences.

Applicants should have (or have submitted) a PhD in neuroscience, vision science, experimental psychology or other relevant subject, with a strong analytical background. Experience in designing, coding (via MATLAB or similar) and running eye-tracking experiments is required. Previous modelling experience is desirable but not essential, as there will be the opportunity to work in collaboration with modelling-oriented colleagues. Applicants will need to demonstrate a record of research productivity and the ability to work creatively and independently.

The position is available immediately but the precise start date is flexible.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 November 2020 in the first instance.
