University College London
Duration
2 years in the first instance

This Wellcome Trust funded research project focuses on developing and applying machine learning and multivariate statistical models to investigate the relationship between neuroimaging data (functional and structural MRI) and multidimensional descriptions of behavior and mental symptoms in adolescents and young adults.

The Research Associate will be responsible for: (i) Processing and analysing structural and functional neuroimaging data, as well as behavioural/questionnaire data; (ii) Developing modeling strategies (e.g. multivariate statistical frameworks) to combine data from these different sources and investigate the relationship between patterns of brain function/structure and patterns of behavior/symptoms; (iii) Exploring ways of integrating longitudinal data into the models and stratifying/characterizing subgroups of subjects; (iv) Validating the models on a large sample of adolescents and young adults. (v) Contributing to the development of the group’s Pattern Recognition for Neuroimaging Toolbox

Key Requirements

  • The candidate should have a PhD (or will shortly be assessed for a PhD level qualification) in Neuroimaging, Imaging Neuroscience, Machine Learning, or related field along with a first degree in a subject with a strong engineering, computer science or mathematics/statistics component.
  • Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £29,809 - £31,432 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections).
  • Candidates must have experience in neuroimaging methods, as well as machine learning and multivariate statistics.
  • A track record of publishing in Neuroimaging, Imaging Neuroscience or Medical Imaging journals is essential.
