Applications are invited for a Research Associate in the Medical Research Council (MRC) Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge, to join a clinical informatics research programme funded by the MRC. The programme includes projects to develop linkages between mental health data and cohort studies of consenting subjects, and between mental and physical healthcare data, and to apply cognitive and psychiatric phenotyping tools to clinical research studies.

The Research Associate will be responsible for development of protocols and other study material, including ethical approvals for the linkage (subject to consent and/or de-identification) of NHS clinical data and research data from multiple source organizations (for example, to inform physical healthcare better in the context of mental health disorders). They will collect, link, and analyse data. Specimen projects might include examining mental health outcomes in studies of adolescence and of aging, and their linkage with behavioural, cognitive, and neuroimaging data.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, Psychiatry or a related discipline (or be very close to completion/award of the same prior to their appointment to the post), and will have excellent communication skills, including an ability to interact well with patients/volunteers and colleagues. Prior experience of working in clinical studies or with volunteers is essential; experience of working with relational databases is highly desirable. Experience in neuropsychiatric and cognitive assessments and statistical analysis of large/complex data sets will be highly desirable. Strong organisational and time-management skills will be important.

The post will be appointed at the appropriate point on the University of Cambridge's research associate salary scale, depending on the seniority of the successful candidate.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2020 in the first instance.
