This multi-disciplinary project will use behavioural testing, surgical and drug administration procedures as well as in vivo electrophysiology in rodents, to investigate the neural substrates of inhibitory learning. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated team and will take full responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the project. The planning of the experimental programme and the preparation of the work for publication will be done in collaboration with the grant holders (Helen Cassaday, Charlotte Bonardi and Carl Stevenson). The majority of the work will be based in the School of Psychology laboratory at the University of Nottingham, Queens Medical Centre. Part of the project will also be based in Dr Carl Stevenson’s lab at the University of Nottingham, Sutton Bonington Campus. Applicants should have (or should be about to receive) a PhD in behavioural neuroscience, psychopharmacology or another relevant discipline. Experience with rodent behavioural testing, stereotaxic surgery, systemic and central drug administration, in vivo electrophysiology, and neural activity data analysis is very desirable. Independence, perseverance, organization, flexibility, effective communication, and teamwork are all essential. Post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 3 years. Hours of work will be full-time (36.25 per week).
