The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,328 -£42,701 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The UCL Ear Institute is a leading center for hearing research in Europe, situated within one of the strongest neuroscience communities in the world at University College London.
The post-holder will be expected to carry out imaging (super-resolution confocal imaging, time-lapse microscopy, electron microscopy), molecular and biochemical experiments to study the role of trafficking proteins in the differentiation of sensory ‘hair’ cells in the mammalian and avian inner ear.
This full time post is funded for 36 months in the first instance.
Applicants should hold a PhD degree in a biomedical or biosciences subject and have carried out high quality academic research using methods mentioned in Job Description. They should have experience in cell and molecular biology and biochemistry. Knowledge of inner ear development and hearing research, and experience in avian embryology would be advantageous.
If the PhD has not yet been granted, the final accepted version of the thesis must have been submitted to the degree-granting university by the start date. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £30,922 - £32,607 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
