The Computational Neuroscience and Cognitive Robotics Research group at Nottingham Trent University is developing high performance computational models of human visual processing, and in particular the creation of accurate models of signal processing in the retina and their high-speed execution, for ultimate application in visual prostheses. The project seeks to deliver an improved understanding of how the brain processes visual information, how it encodes such information in spike trains, and how it responds to variations in natural scenes and environments.
The University now seeks to recruit a full-time Research Assistant to support the development of retinal models for the project.
Applications are welcomed from candidates with knowledge and experience in computational intelligence and computational neuroscience. Applications from candidates with expertise in visual, auditory or tactile processing using bioinspired computational models, modern neural network simulation environments and neuron model development tools in a high-performance computing environment are particularly welcome.
