A postdoctoral position is available in the Lukacs lab lab on a BBSRC-funded project to study mammalian mechano-transduction. They are a dynamically growing and well-resourced group with an interest in the molecular aspects of somatosensation. They use a combination of high-throughput genomics, fluorescent imaging and cell sorting techniques and electrophysiology to study molecular receptors of chemical, thermal and mechanical receptors in the sensory nervous system.

The successful applicant will study the function and regulation of mechano-sensitive receptors and ion channels using patch clamp electrophysiology, molecular biology and fluorescent imaging techniques. As part of a collaborative effort the applicant will also work on the development and implementation of novel technology in genomics in the field of sensory physiology and beyond.
