2024 BNA Scholars announced
15th March 2024
Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in neuroscience or pain research? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?
We are looking for enthusiastic, ambitious and self-motivated scientist to join the laboartory of Professor Nikita Gamper on a 5 years Wellcome Trust funded project.
In this project we aim to build upon our recent findings on the regulation of pain transmission in the peripheral somatosensory ganglia, and on the neuronal crosstalk and asynaptic transmission in the ganglia. The project is multidisciplinary and involves electrophysiology and imaging (including in vivo), opto- and chemogenetic approaches, molecular-biology and in vivo behavioural studies. Therefore experience in at least some of these methods is essential; background in peripheral pain pathways is also welcomed. A PhD (or close to completion) in neuroscience, physiology or pharmacology (or equivalent) and lab experience with the ability to use sophisticated equipment.
The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was reawarded a Bronze award in 2017. We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider job share applications and requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees.
