Two enthusiastic and skilled research fellows are sought to work within Professor Lora Heisler’s research group in the Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen. The overall aim of Professor Heisler’s research programme is to investigate the basic neurophysiology of appetite, body weight, and insulin action by examining the neurocircuitry of neurotransmitter and neuropeptide systems with the aim of improving metabolic health. 

The Research Fellow positions are ideally suited to experienced, highly motivated post-doctoral fellows committed to a career of research, providing consistent and continuous high level intellectual and practical input to a dynamic research group. You will have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Neuroscience, Physiology, Pharmacology or Biochemistry with experience in a relevant area and evidence of results published in peer-reviewed journals.  Particular skills and experience required include molecular biology, histochemistry and in vivo metabolic phenotyping.

Posts are funded by the BBSRC and Post 1 will be offered for a period of 3 years and Post 2 will be offered for a period of 1 year.

Both appointments will be made subject to the usual terms and conditions of employment of the University.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale (£33,199 per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience.
