Dementia is the biggest health challenge of our century. To date there is no way to prevent it or even slow its progression, and there is an urgent need to fill the knowledge gap in our basic understanding of the diseases that cause it. The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) is the biggest UK initiative driving forward research to fill this gap. The UK DRI at Imperial brings together researchers from diverse backgrounds with fresh perspectives, drawing on the university’s unique strengths, resources and focus on science, engineering, medicine and business. The team recognises that the challenges of dementia demand new concepts, new approaches and a diverse range of new research tools and directions. Their holistic approach views the ageing brain in the context of the ageing body, not in isolation.

The Department of Brain Science an at Imperial College London is seeking an outstanding and committed research technician to work on the ADVANCE-TBI study of military traumatic brain injury. This study is of global importance to military and civilian casualties who have suffered serious physical trauma. You will become key members of the neuroscience research staff in the group of Professor David Sharp. You will become a part of the ADVANCE clinical team and be responsible for organising, piloting and, on occasion, administering of neuropsychological/blood/imaging tests to research participants.

You will form close working relationships with the ADVANCE TBI team at DMRC, Stanford Hall, Nottinghamshire and cross-cover with a colleague at DMRC as needed. You will be supported to curate and analyse study data, to produce scientific outputs from the study.
